HEILYKE Designs by: Heili Aun Nalla

|
Last night I went to the screening of "The September Issue" at the Harvard Exit. My jewelry was displayed in the lobby during the showing along with some very inspiring local artists and boutique owners. Amongst them, I had the pleasure of meeting the amazing and incredibly talented up and coming clothing designer Heili of HEILYKE! She is just a darling, & I am so very excited about her beautiful designs! Of course I had to share some with you!

Here she is at the Harvard Exit Theatre last night standing next to some pieces from her line. The jackets are also made by her!

A little bit about Heili:

Heili Aun Nalla has been fascinated with garment construction since her childhood in Estonia. She expressed her initial ideas by sewing clothes for herself and her family. Right from the start she was interested in creating garments that are well crafted. As she explores new ideas she incorporates techniques like dyeing, felting, and embroidery in some of her works. Her goal is to create garments that are fresh and unique, wearable both on special occasions as well as adaptable for elegant casual wear.

After high school, Heili attended Tallinn Light Industry Technical College in Tallinn, Estonia, where she graduated with a degree in Apparel Design and worked with various designers after she completed her studies. Shortly after Heili moved to Seattle, Washington she continued her education at Bellevue Community College where she was awarded the Scholarship Award for 2003-04 BCC Reads Competition. Her education continued at University of Washington School of Art Fibers program, where she received the 2009 Harold and Sylvia Tacker Award (Fibers), and was nominated for the University Of Washington School Of Art 2008-2009 Graduating with Excellence Award.

Here are some beautiful pictures I pulled from her website

I am in awe. I cannot even begin to imagine how she creates these beautiful things! Isn't it fun to know that someone so talented isn't far away in NY or Paris, but in our very own Seattle, WA?
